The Equalizer

Training Day, the Denzel Washington / Antoine Fuqua collaboration, is a favourite of ours here at Coolector HQ and when we realised that they were to team up again in The Equalizer, we were, of course, understandably excited. We first got wind of this movie a few months ago but we’ve only just been treated to the theatrical trailer and, we’re glad to report, it looks to suitability utilise Washington’s skills as a ominous chap intent on revenge.

The film is a remake of the television series of the same name and stars Washington as a former Black Ops commando who fakes his own death in order to live a more relaxed existence away from the violence that typified him but comes out of his hiatus to help a young woman who is being harassed by the Russian mafia. The film looks to have similarities to another excellent Washington revenge vehicle, Man on Fire, and we’re hoping that this movie hits the high notes that the director, Fuqua, and star, Washington, managed to reach in training day.

The Equalizer is set for release on September 26th in the US so there’s still a fair few months until it hits our screens but this trailer has definitely ramped up our expectations significantly.
