Mob City

If there’s one type of television programme or film that we here at The Coolector will always sit up and take notice of, it is that of gangster dramas and when it comes to ones that look as superb and well shot as this upcoming TNT drama, Mob City, then furgedaboutit. The sneak peak of this exceptional looking gangster epic, which is set in 1940’s Los Angeles, follows the story of a no-nonsense police chief and a dangerous mobster as they clash on the streets of the City of Angels.

If you’re a fan of the equally as fantastic The Walking Dead series, then you should definitely be keeping a keen eye on Mob City because the pilot episode (from which the sneak peak above is taken) was written and directed by Frank Darabont, who has been instrumental in the success of the popular post-Apocalyptic zombie series. The series is based on the critically acclaimed book, L.A Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City by John Buntin.

Mob City is set just after the conclusion of World War II, in a time when corruption is rife and there is a criminal underbelly in Los Angeles. Starring a great ensemble cast including Ed Burns, Jeremy Luke, Jon Bernthal and Milo Ventimiglia, Mob City is looking extremely likely to fill the Soprano shaped hole in The Coolector’s life and expertly compliment our love of the HBO mainstay, Broadwalk Empire.

Mob City is scheduled for its debut this December on TNT.
