Vauxhall Grandland X SUV Review

We love a good old road trip here at Coolector HQ and when we recently had the chance to drive from our base in Liverpool right the way across to St Andrews in Scotland we were delighted to be able to do it aboard the obscenely comfortable and mod-con heavy Vauxhall Grandland X SUV. Loaned to us for the purposes of this road-trip by Vauxhall, this is one meaty vehicle that handles like a dream and about as comfortable a ride as we can remember.

The Vauxhall Grandland X SUV is positively built for adventure and it will be ready for anything that the open road can throw at it – something which we witnessed first hand as we traversed the twisty, mountainous roads of the Lake District and then the narrow, sharp bends of a multitude of Scottish villages en route to our final destination of the stunning St Andrews. Boasting clean, effortless and elegant lines, and robust, uncompromising curves, it’s hard not to be impressed with brains, brawn and nimbleness that is crowbarred into this powerful Grandland X SUV from Vauxhall.

Road Warrior

One of the first things you’ll notice about the Vauxhall Grandland X SUV is its uncompromising, no nonsense size that will dominate the road but despite its lofty dimensions, it handles like a much more nimble steed and this is something which certainly left us mighty impressed during our mammoth journey to the East coast of Scotland here at Coolector HQ. This exceptional SUV from Vauxhall has AGR Ergonomic Seating which provides full lumbar support, extendable and tiltable seat cushion and plenty of adjustable settings – which is essential on road trips of this length.

The Vauxhall Grandland X SUV has a spacious, luxurious and smart connected interior filled with hi-tech innovation, style and design flourishes which will ensure your time spent on the road is always an enjoyable one. There is a neat touch of ambient lighting on the interior of the Grandland X that illuminates the centre console, rear cargo lamps and doors. It is a calming and reassuring touch to the design and one that delivers a pleasing glow inside when you’re on the move.

Another eye-catching feature of the Grandland X from Vauxhall is the LED Adaptive Lighting which is an intelligent headlight system which will actually shape the beams you emit according to your particular driving situation. It also comes with Driver Assistance Systems which, in our experience took a little getting used to but is definitely a stellar feature. It essentially means the vehicle has traffic sign recognition, lane assist and an automatic emergency braking system which will safely slow your speed in heavy traffic situations, whilst keeping you in full control of the vehicle.

Technological Superiority

One of the stand out features of the Vauxhall Grandland X SUV in our opinion was just how much awesome tech that it boasts and how said tech genuinely makes for a much more compelling and safe drive. Chief amongst the offerings it has is the 360° panoramic camera which shows objects surrounding your car on the centre console screen which makes reversing in and out of a tight spot much more straightforward (and that’s coming from a generally terrible parker).

For anyone looking to invest in a new vehicle in 2018 and want one that has more technological components than you can shake a stick at, is ridiculously comfortable to drive and looks aesthetically excellent, you’ll find that the Grandland X SUV from Vauxhall ticks all these boxes and much more besides. For the base model, it costs £22,510 and you can add plenty of the aforementioned features to configure exactly the ride you want. Definitely recommended here at Coolector HQ.
