St James Hotel and Club

Stunning hotel & restaurant in London's swankiest neighbourhood.

As relatively regular travellers here at The Coolector, we’ve stayed in our fair share of hotels and it’s always immeasurably rewarding when you come across one that genuinely feels like a home away from home but that’s definitely something that immediately strikes you the minute you step into the, gloriously appointed, lobby of the St James Hotel and Club.

You just get that feeling about some hotels and the grandiose entrance to the St James’ certainly gives a first impression like no other and what sits behind it is one of London’s most respected and notable hotels.

Whilst “heritage” is something that a lot of London hotels will lay claim to, there aren’t many in our nation’s capital that can hold a candle to St James Hotel and Club in this regard and this positively shines through right from the outset. For us here at Coolector HQ, the period of St James Hotel and Club’s history that resonates the most is the 1920s and 30s when the likes of Winston Churchill regularly frequented the iconic club and it also temporarily served as the home to James Bond creator, Ian Fleming.

Everywhere you look from the moment you enter the St James Hotel and Club is imbued with historical relevance and this is particularly true of the stunning original staircase that immediately draws the eye as you work your way back through the hotel’s wonderfully intricate architectural design.

We started our stay at this magnificent London hotel with a lunch at the Michelin starred restaurant, Seven Park Place by William Drabble, which, quite frankly, was amongst the most incredible food we’ve had the pleasure of experiencing and this was coupled with phenomenal service from the jovial waiting staff throughout. Check out some shots of the impeccable food on offer in Seven Park Place below:

Indescribably good food, which just kept on coming, at the Seven Park Place restaurant was a fantastic way to start a stay at what was clearly one of London’s finest hotels and, even if you’re not planning on a stay at St James Hotel and Club, a visit to this Michelin starred restaurant is an absolute must.

After finishing off the mesmerisingly good food, we were shown to our equally as impressive room at the St James and Club which was not only breathtakingly comfortable but also boasted a vast balcony with a great view of the London architecture and a number of comfortable seating options. The perfect place to relax and unwind after taking advantage of the hotel’s first class location for shopping, food and drink.

Brilliant amenities throughout the hotel are reflected in the room’s great looking aesthetics and we’re pretty sure you’ll be hard pressed to find a more comfortable bed in the whole of London than that which is afforded to you at the St James Hotel & Club.

Fantastically accommodating staff and a building which is amongst London’s most heritage filled make this a real jewel in the crown of our capital city and with it’s quiet, set back setting adjacent to the beautiful Green Park and a five minute stroll from Hyde Park and all the great fun filled events you can find there make the St James Hotel and Club a one in a million offering that we’ve fallen for mighty hard here at Coolector HQ and we’ve no hesitation whatsoever in gushing about how it’s one of our favourite hotel stays ever – which is made all the more impressive given that it’s right on our own doorstep.
