Ralph Steadman is an artist that we’ve got an awful lot of time for here at Coolector HQ due to his wonderful collaborations with Hunter S Thompson in bringing his extraordinary writing to life even more through his highly distinctive illustrations. Well, it’s not only us who are fans of Steadman’s inimitable work because Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan, has commissioned the iconic artist to create artwork for some special edition Breaking Bad boxsets to be released in February next year and, as you might expect, the artwork crafted by Steadman is suitably madcap.
Needless to say, having worked alongside Hunter S Thompson, Steadman is no stranger to a drugs related storyline and this perhaps makes him the perfect choice for crafting the artwork for the crystal meth colossus, Breaking Bad. Undoubtedly one of the finest shows of the last decade, the lives of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman have forever been etched on the minds of millions of fans and, through the release of a new boxset with artwork from Ralph Steadman, they may be soon set to garner a whole new set of Gonzo loving fans as well.
Breaking Bad will be sorely missed for sure but re-releases such as this from Vince Gilligan and Ralph Steadman help keep it in the public consciousness and with the release of Better Call Saul only a few months away now, it’s a timely reminded of just excellent and iconic the show was.
