We’re big fans of EDC here at Coolector HQ and there aren’t many better at curating it than the guys at Cool Material with their superbly realised selection of everyday carry that any contemporary man will love to have in their line up. From pens to notepads to pocket knives, they’ve got everything you could possibly need on their well stocked digital shelves and we check out 6 of the best pieces of EDC from the Cool Material store below:

Iron Coin of the Faceless Man – $14

Crafted from solid iron, fans of Game of Thrones are definitely going to appreciate this piece of EDC as its a knowing nod to one of the series coolest storylines. The Iron Coin of the Faceless Man ($14) lets you carry around your own little piece of the Game of Thrones world and it has been struck from solid iron version of the coin that was given to Arya Stark by Jaqen H’ghar. One side of the hand-patina’d coin depicts a hooded figure with an indistinct face, while the other has a VDVM monogram encircled by the words “Valar Morghulis, Valar Dohaeris” (All men must dies, all men must serve). It’s essentially an assassin’s challenge coin that any Game of Thrones fan will love and will serve as a real talking point amongst your EDC line up. ($14)

Titanium Tactical Pen – $77

A good quality pen should be the cornerstone of any man’s EDC line up and they just won’t come any more accomplished, durable and versatile than this Titanium Tactical Pen ($76) from the Cool Material Shop. Crafted from titanium with a tungsten Alloy Hardened Striking Bezel, this fantastic accessory packs in a few cool features you won’t see on your Bic. The tungsten steel alloy strike bezel allows you to break a window or defend yourself should you need to and then there is the super bright rechargeable flashlight that delivers a 5-hour runtime so you can illuminate your path for quite a while if you’re out in the wild or need to get back into your house and can’t find the keyhole. The titanium build means this writing instrument is lightweight and comfortable to use yet also powerful in performance. ($76)

Hobo Nickel Zippo Lighter – $157

Ever been asked if you’ve got a light and had to disappointingly produce a disposable lighter? Well, no more with this awesome looking Hobo Nickel Zippo Lighter ($157) available on the Cool Material Store. Each one of these lighters are made in the USA and billed as tiny pieces of art that people have been crafting for centuries. They use small-denomination coins as their muse, and artists carve small, attractive tokens to carry with them on their journeys. Because of the size and the cost, the idea became popular among hobos for many years in the States, giving the coins their name. For these lighters, the artist, Shane Hunter, has contributed a little of that American history to an iconic American product, the Zippo lighter. The Hobo Nickel Zippo boasts an eye-catching representation of the art-form which has been soldered to the front of the brushed brass lighter. ($157)

Gerber Pocket Square Knife – $32

Pocket knives are undoubtedly one of the most useful pieces of EDC you’ll have when heading into the wild or working in the workshop and this brilliant Gerber Pocket Square Knife ($32) represents exceptional value for money. Boasting a machined aluminium handle, this is a lightweight pocket knife that borrows its name from the humble pocket square due to the fact that it is just too is sharp and dressy. Eschewing superfluous design elements for a sleek, clean appearance, the Gerber Pocket Square Knife is much more refined and mature than the norm. The machined aluminum handle is paired with a 3” drop point blade and an ambidextrous thumb lift for one stunning folder. If James Bond relied on a pocket knife, this would be it. ($32)

Lucky Bastard Slider Lip Balm – $8

Made in California, the Lucky Bastard Co Slider Lip Balm ($8) will be a godsend on those dry days and your lips are chapped beyond recognition. It is made from all organic ingredients like coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax, and red raspberry seed oil to make sure your lips are provided with a healthy, natural protection. It also contains natural protection from the sun for your lips while it keeps them from drying out and feeling dryer than the Sahara. And while it works like a charm, the packaging on this slider tin is just as eye-catching which makes it a worthy addition to your EDC line up. You’re definitely not going to find a cooler looking lip balm in your local drugs store. ($8)

Pry.Me Bottle Opener – $10

If, like us at The Coolector, you’re always preoccupied with the thought of cracking open a cold beer then a bottle opener is an essential piece of EDC for your line up. Needless to say, you won’t want to lug around anything too weighty on a day to day basis which is why this Pry.Me Bottle Opener ($10) on the Cool Material Shop is the ideal solution. Small but perfectly formed, this excellent accessory is made from a sandstone finished titanium and it is just ¾” in length, and about the size of a penny, but it will tear through bottle cap after bottle cap and even hold up to 164,000 times its own weight. Impressive stuff. ($10)
