AVI-8 Flyboy Royal British Legion Tri-Service Chronograph Limited Edition Watches

We’ve regularly featured the limited edition watches from AVI-8 here on the pages of The Coolector but it is their collaboration with the Royal British Legion that always turns our head and they’ve really pushed the boat out this year. In collaboration with the Royal British Legion, AVI-8 has created a timepiece commemorating and celebrating the three branches of the British Armed Forces: the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force.

There are four different versions to choose from (available to buy from March 31st) and they are limited to just 500 pieces with each watch sold contributing to the important work of the RBL to support active members of the British Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

While paying tribute to those who have served and sacrificed on our behalf, the RBL Tri-Service Limited Edition Watch from AVI-8 operates as a high-performance and robust military-ready timepiece, incorporating all the necessary build and engineering for use in any field of combat.

Each one is powered by a precise TMI VK series Meca-quartz chronograph movement, the choice of movement is of particular interest given the UK’s Ministry of Defence issue of a watch from Seiko to its military forces in the 1980s to update previous watch selections from British or Swiss watch companies, making it the first quartz chronograph movement delivered as a bonafide piece of military equipment.

A stainless steel case that measures 42mm in diameter is equipped with tidy piston-like chronograph pushers, while a hardened mineral lens provides clear-cut visibility to the dial and hands. Topping the crown is the Royal British Legion’s red two-petal poppy enclosed in epoxy which adds a real touch of class to proceedings.
