Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 LE Watch

When searching for a new watch there are, of course, plenty of factors to take into account from pricing to performance capabilities and if you’re after a watchmaker that sits right in the sweet spot of all the key features that we look for in a timepiece, it’s difficult to look past Hamilton Watches. As if to exemplify this point, they’ve released the rather extraordinary looking Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 LE Watch which is available from the Worn & Wound WindUp Store.

The Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 LE Watch has a price tag of $2545 which is obviously a rather sizeable investment but, in return, you’re getting an exemplary timepiece on your wrist that will tick all the right boxes from a style and performance perspective. This eye-catching timepiece is based on one of Hamilton’s most radical designs and if for those who want to really make an impactful statement with their choice of wristwatch, look no further.

Style & Substance

The Chrono-Matic 50 LE is an entirely unique offering that will turn heads aplenty and it is utterly Hamilton in style and functionality. Created 50 years after the creation of the Caliber 11, one of the first automatic chronograph movements, and based on the Chrono-matic Countdown, which is now a rare and highly collectible vintage piece, this fantastic new timepiece from Hamilton delivers the adventurous and innovative spirit of the original well and truly into the 21st century and we’re big fans of its aesthetics here at Coolector HQ.

Certainly no shrinking violet, the Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 LE Watch ($2545) is sized at the same at a whopping 48mm as the timepiece that inspired it, the radical case design boasts two crown, and three coloured pushers that will immediately catch the eye. While the overall aesthetic is largely the same, the Chrono-Matic 50 does offer plenty of significant changes such as the red pushers that start, stop and reset the chronograph. The black pusher at ten changes the date, featured in a window at six o’clock.

The crown at eight adjusts the internal bezel, and this is found between the tachymeter and the main dial, providing count-down functionality that helps to set the Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 LE Watch apart from the crowd. There is a distinctly sporty look and feel to this high quality timepiece from Hamilton and for any man seeking a new watch for 2020, this would unquestionably be one of our first picks here at The Coolector.

Movement Matters

With the Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 LE Watch you will be treated to a  H-31 Swiss-made caliber movement that delivers an impeccable performance day in, day out. This automatic chronograph is based on the venerable ETA/Valjoux 7753 and features 27-jewels, hacking, hand-winding, pusher-set date, a frequency of 28,800 bph, and a power reserve of 60-hours. Most mechanical chronographs top out at around 40 hours, which makes the H-31 a stand out performer in this regard.

Extremely limited in nature, only 1,972 of these Hamilton Chrono-Matic 50 LE Watches will be made available to purchase so you’ll have to make your move quickly if you’ve liked what you’ve seen. Available from the Worn & Wound WindUp Store for $2545, the Chrono-Matic isn’t cheap but has an unerring performance and quality that really will make it the sort of watch that you’ll want to pass from one generation to the next.
