HYPEBEAST x Timex M79 “Fuchsia” Automatic Watch

Watches that look great and don’t break the bank really hit the sweet spot for us here at Coolector HQ and that’s exactly what we’ve got on our hands with this HYPEBEAST x Timex M79 “Fuchsia” Automatic Watch. This limited edition offering will hit the shelves on the 12th of January for the wallet friendly price tag of $299 so if you find yourself in the market for a new timepiece that looks the part but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, look no further.

The HYPEBEAST x Timex M79 “Fuchsia” Automatic Watch ($299) is latest collaboration project from HYPEBEAST – and their first official watch release. It is a vintage-inspired version of Timex’s workhorse M79 watch and has definitely got an impressive aesthetic impact. In keeping with the watch’s intended use as a tool watch for everyday wear, many of the timepiece’s signature features were kept intact while small tweaks were thrown into the mix for a long-lasting enjoyment that will make it a mainstay of your watch collection.

ONE FOR THE WATCH LOVER

Designed for a wide array of watch aficionados, from those just starting their watch collection to the seasoned collector, this reliable timepiece is ready to accompany you wherever your adventures take you. The Timex M79 is the mechanical successor of the Timex Q (re-issued in 2019), where “M” represents “Mechanical” and “79” the year of the Q’s initial release. The reason for the re-issue was simply to educate a new generation of consumers on Timex’s storied past, years before the successful Timex Ironman series of digital timepieces.

The HYPEBEAST x Timex M79 “Fuchsia” Automatic Watch ($299) is a play on one of the more striking versions of the ref. 1675 and a chance to keep the ongoing theme of incorporating navy into HYPEBEAST’s collaborative releases. This colour pays respect to the obscurities found in the world of vintage timepieces. While undesirable to some, things like tropical dials and faded “ghost” bezel inserts are a rare occurrence. These “happy accidents” from the ‘50s – ‘70s happened when certain — now considered defective — paints were deployed which led to a number of imperfections when exposed to UV light from the sun over a long period of time.

To help make sure this timepiece from HYPEBEAST and Timex sees more wrist time, a sportier stainless steel H-link bracelet was used in place of the original woven mesh bracelet. This functional, stylish bracelet is more breathable on the wrist due to its link spacing and offers more of a sporty visual impact to the overall watch. The co-branded bracelets are polished to blend with the case where at the back of the case you will find each watch individually numbered out of 500.
