James Brand Redstone Pocket Knife

A quality pocket knife is an EDC essential for most men and if you’re after something versatile, lightweight and affordable (not to mention looking super cool), the James Brand Redstone Pocket Knife is an obvious choice in our opinion here at The Coolector. This classy bit of EDC is purpose built to go anywhere without weighing you down and everyone in the backcountry needs a pocket knife, but there are few that you can both trust and which will blend seamlessly alongside the rest of your gear – the Redstone is that knife.

The James Brand Redstone Pocket Knife has a price tag of $89 which represents exceptional value for money and the fact you can get such a functional accessory in your pocket for under $100 is nothing short of extraordinary. For this release, the James Brand wanted to make a small, lightweight knife that you could toss in your pack and basically forget about (until you really need it), but one that had more premium materials, and was full-featured. The Redstone boasts the brand’s very first formed-wire pocket clip, a hand-hold grip design, an ambi-dextrous slide lock mechanism, and a partially serrated blade.

FIRST CLASS FUNCTIONALITY

The Redstone from the James Brand looks different purely because it is different. They came up with a one-piece chassis design that allowed them to minimise parts and keep out dirt and grime, while ensuring the structure needed for the mechanism and grips. It can be fully-operated (both opened and closed) with one hand, and has a slide-lock mechanism, which means that it’s extra secure when opened, but still easy to unlock and close with one hand. The Redstone Pocket Knife uses their very first bent-wire pocket clip– one of the very lightest and most functional clip designs anywhere on the market.

Quality from top to bottom, the James Brand Redstone Pocket Knife ($89) will make a great Christmas gift for any EDC aficionado and it also comes with a lanyard, so that you can deploy it easily or clip it to other things. Throw in a partially serrated blade ready to cut or rip into the mix, and the Redstone really is the full package in our opinion. Crafted in collaboration with professional rock climber and photographer, Savannah Cummins, there is a lot to appreciate in the design. She gave the James Brand a great insight; there are always three things in the top of her pack: a Bic lighter, some lip balm, and a small pocket knife.

The Redstone is cleverly conceived to be a compact and lightweight outdoor knife that you’ll bring along anywhere the trail may take you. With the new island design concept, the Redstone allows for a finger to rest between the islands, providing superior grip, especially for a smaller knife. The Redstone is made around a one-piece die-stamped chassis which ensures it is exceptionally robust, reducing the overall number of parts. It features a Slide-Lock design for secure lock-up and easy one-handed use. Last but not least, it features a Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel for high corrosion resistance and great edge retention and has the James Brand’s very first bent-wire clip, which is the lightest and simplest clip possible. An EDC essential for the adventure inclined.
