1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT

We’re not going to lie, we’ve become more than a little obsessed with Ferrari Dino releases of late here at Coolector HQ and we’re regularly scouring the web for new ones to feast our eyes upon (before snapping back to reality when the price tags become clear) and we’ve just potentially found one of our favourites to date with this 1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT going up for private sale with RM Sotheby’s. This stunning steed really is one of the finest examples of a Dino we’ve encountered and it is presented in a truly remarkable condition.

This unbelievably attractive motor from RM Sotheby’s is one of just 153 Dino 206 GTs constructed, and of only 51 produced in 1969 so you’ll be in decidedly exclusive company if you’re the one that happens to have close to £500k going spare to be able to add this to your classic car collection in 2022. It is Ferrari Classiche-certified with accompanying Red Book and report by marque historian, Marcel Massini so you know it’s from good stock and can be a standout addition to any luxury car lover’s lineup.

EYE-CATCHING AESTHETICS, AMAZING CONDITION

To give you an idea of the quality of this 1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT from RM Sotheby’s, a world-record auction price was received on this car at Pebble Beach in 2015 and it is presented in the same amazing quality today. It boasts all-alloy components including Scaglietti body and V-6 engine and matching-numbers chassis, engine, and gearbox. Just 153 of the special, alloy-bodied 206 GTs were built from 1968 to 1969, after which production shifted to the heavier 246 GT. This is one of just 51 built in 1969, leaving Maranello’s workshops on 13 January finished in striking Bianco Polo Park over Nero “Skai” vinyl interior and riding on 6.5 x 14-inch Cromodora knock-off alloy wheels.

This breathtakingly cool 1969 Ferrari Dino 206 GT from RM Sotheby’s (£475k) was delivered to Romeo Pedini Auto S.r.l., an official Ferrari dealership in Perugia, Italy, before being sold to its first private owner—a Perugia local—in February 1969. From 1990 to 1993, the majestic machine belonged to a long-term Ferrari enthusiast, and is said to have sat alongside a Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider in his collection. From there it passed briefly through the hands of a well-known Ferrari parts supplier, before finding a long-term home in North Canton, Ohio, where it would remain for the next 20 years.

In 2009, chassis 00320 was the subject of an major restoration, after which it took pride of place at the 24th Cavallino Classic in January 2015 as part of a special class dedicated exclusively to Dinos, sporting the Ohio-badged license plates “206 GT”. It is finished to an impeccably high standard in red over black interior with matching numbers chassis, engine and gearbox, 00320 was awarded Ferrari Classiche certification in June 2015 prior to being offered under the hammer at Pebble Beach, where it sold for a whopping $803,000—a then-world record price for the model at auction. After an iconic Ferrari for your line up? This is it.
