Bell Canyon Residence

When it comes to architecture, the outside is often just as important and the inside spaces and that’s something that is certainly true of this amazing looking Bell Canyon Residence in California which has one of the most mesmerising gardens and green spaces we’ve seen in some time here at Coolector HQ. This glorious piece of architecture from Hsu McCullough is a verdant residential house nestled at the edge of a canyon in Ventura County.

The Bell Canyon Residence from Hsu McCullough is situated on a relatively modest one acre plot but they’ve managed to shoehorn in an abundant amount of greenery to the outdoor spaces that really sets it apart from the crowd and makes it such a relaxing space to spend time. It boasts mature trees, extensive lawns, and flowering gardens – all of which combine to give it a real sense of natural cohesion.

California Cool

This contemporary 4,000-square-foot ranch house has all manner of cool features throughout its design which make it a really luxurious residential home for the owners. This includes a recording studio, a swimming pool and rejuvenating spa. The home is positioned in an L-shape with a living room, a long kitchen, and a dining room that form what the architects have described as the “Great Room,” which has eye-catching sliding glass doors to frame the outside gardens and mountain views beyond.

The Bell Canyon Residence from Hsu McCullough is really brought to life by the green outdoor spaces which surround the minimalist interiors. The outdoor space is a romantic setting for adults to lounge in and is also perfect as a play area for children. The house has a long horizontal frontage and a wood-clad entrance door and from the foyer with low ceilings, you pass the Great Room with 18-foot-long, triangular-shaped clerestory windows, and then take a 60-foot-long central passage to reach the private bedroom suites.

In the Master bedroom there is a clever use of space which opens to a yard via a set of sliding glass windows and has individual walk-in closets, a vast open shower with a shower garden, and electromagnetic privacy glass which means that the glass can switch between clear and opaque with the flick of a switch. There’s also a kid’s bedroom and a guest suite that looks onto the outdoor courtyard beyond.

Understated Design

Throughout the Bell Canyon Residence in California, there are neat interior design touches which reflect the green nature of the outdoors and really bring the whole space to life. It has a great flow to the interior spaces and has been designed to make the most of the pleasing California climate that they enjoy most of the year.

The Bell Canyon Residence has definitely captured our imagination here at Coolector HQ and the architect has done an amazing job of bringing the outdoors inside and there can be few more verdant and relaxing spaces in which to spend time. A great piece of contemporary architecture that will appeal to those who love to spend time in their gardens.
