House of Circumferences

Precision is, of course of paramount importance when it comes to architecture and that is particularly true of mesmerising pieces of design like  House of Circumferences from LAND Arquitectos. The studio recently completed this spectacular seaside home that consists of striking pavilions with wooden screens laid out according to vegetation groupings on the coastal plot of land in Chile, South America.

House of Circumferences from LAND Arquitectos has 1100-square metres of living space and this is contained within a series of six pavilions, arranged in a trailing pattern along the narrow 9,027-square metre lot. Built as a holiday home, this glorious property was designed around the underlying geometries of the pre-existing vegetation on the sloping terrain with sensational sea views. The architects behind the build drew 25 circles around the vegetation groupings and the resulting lines were used as the basis for the home’s layout – hence the name of the build.

As part of the design of House Of Circumferences, there is a wooden screen that trails along the southwestern edge of the building against the predominant wind and this has been deployed to act as a second skin that is used to help contain light and solar radiation within the holiday home in Chile. The screen connects the pavilions that are described as being structured in skeletons of CNC machined-laminated wood.

The distinguished-looking property was designed to be multi-generational with the various residences divided into dark pavilions, comprising glazed box trusses, each boasting an unbeatable sea view through eye-catching floor-to-ceiling windows. The main pavilion at House Of Circumferences is where you’ll find the living room, dining space and kitchen. This space is accented with a striking 26-metre-long yellow beam and angled columns. The sliding glass doors open entirely to soften the look of the wall, and the roof extends past the perimeter to form a shaded porch with an outdoor kitchen for alfresco dining.

Last but not least, the two other bar-shaped pavilions at House Of Circumferences hold three en-suite bedrooms each and a pool and hot tub are perfectly nestled between the plot’s vegetation. The last two pavilions include a small suite and a garage for any visitors or when the owners are enjoying a vacation at this majestic South American holiday home.
