Lucia Smart Cabin

The idea of finding the perfect workspace, set in the middle of a remote locale is something that often preoccupies us here at The Coolector but we might just have found the exact thing we’ve been looking for in the shape of Lucia Smart Cabin from Pirinen Salo Oy. At just 24m², it is the epitome of small but perfectly formed and this breathtaking cabin in the middle of woodland, overlooking a lake in the Inari region of Finland is the very definition of a restful, relaxing spot to work in our opinion.

The Lucia Smart Cabin is a glass and steel unit that has been purpose built for Finnish glass construction company Savon Lasituote Oy. It can be used as an accommodation overnight or as a workspace with unparalleled views of its surrounding countryside and to the sky. The unit is delivered ready to use to the plot where it is installed on foundations built according to the manufacturer’s instructions and connected to infrastructure to make sure it delivers everything the owners require.

CABIN IN THE WOODS

The mirror-like all-glass exterior of the Lucia Smart Cabin is interrupted only by black seams of the SG-glazing system and by the black steel ribbon of the floor so it has a sleek, minimalist aesthetic that doesn’t jar against its wilderness location. The extensive amount of mirroring glass surface on the exterior blends the unit powerfully to its surroundings and ensures that it adds to them rather than serves as a distraction. It’s hard not to be impressed by the visual impact of both the cabin and the glorious setting in which it has been placed.

The most important element in the interior of the Lucia Smart Cabin from Pirinen Salo Oy is naturally the surrounding landscape and the sky. The triangular shape of the steel structures is cleverly orientated according to the optimal viewpoint inside the unit to make sure that the maximal view to the exterior with minimum obstruction can be achieved. It would be shame to have a cabin designed for relaxing positioned in such a tranquil spot and not being able to see it all because of beams and other obstructions.

The uniform use of surface colour and material on the interior surfaces does a fantastic job of elevating the surrounding landscape as the brilliant looking cabin itself. The lighting is integrated into the triangular steel beam structure and it uses glass surfaces as reflective spaces to allow the space a very interesting multidimensionality. If you’ve been wondering what the perfect fortress of solitude for relaxing, unwinding or working on that novel looked like, you might just have found it with the Lucia Smart Cabin.
