This cracking bit of stationery has a stealthy, no-nonsense aesthetic which will instantly ingratiate it into your line up of everyday carry wares.

The Machine Era Co Twist Field Pen has definitely got EDC essential written all over it (not literally, we hasten to add) and for sheer quality of visual impact and intelligent ergonomic design, it’s tough to beat. With a mighty reasonable price tag of just $65, this will become your go-to pen whenever you head out of the door and its immeasurably robust construction means it’s not going to let you down whatever adventures you find yourself on.

Pen is Mightier than the Sword

We’ve been following the awesome accessories from Richmond, Virginia, based Machine Era Co for years now here at Coolector HQ and the first thing we notice about all the wares that emerge from their workshop is the high quality of the craftsmanship and it’s no exception with the Twist Field Pen ($65). Only limited amounts of this striking piece of stationery will be made available and they are currently taking pre-orders on their site now with the intention of shipping the pens in May, so move quickly if you want to add this super cool pen to your EDC line up.

The Machine Era Co Twist Field Pen ($65) is also available to purchase on Kickstarter as well as through pre-ordering on the Machine Era Co site so you can get one in your hands however you would like. The quality of this pen is, as always, tangible and it handles like a dream courtesy of the well thought out design. This is Machine Era’s first design that incorporate Parker size refills and the fully machined body is full of tactile details, a smooth ‘lock in’ action, and an effortless gel writer from Itoya.

After trying various different ink cartridge options, the Japanese made, Itoya Aquaroller, was picked as the best choice for this writing tool. The 0.7mm acid free gel ink flows onto your writing surface like no other. It’s reliable, and starts flowing as soon as it hits the paper and it doesn’t need any scribbling to get it up and running. For motion control, there is the Schmidt Easy Glide which delivers a super clean, satisfying twist motion engagement. It has been machined from stainless steel and thermoplastic, with a ‘lock in’ feature. Once the cartridge is extended to its full length it will lock in place, preventing retraction until turned back in the other direction.

Tangible Quality

Choosing a pen might not seem like the most important part of your EDC line up but, truth be told, it will likely be one of the accessories that gets the most use so it needs to be of a high calibre. They just don’t come any better than the Twist Field Pen from Machine Era Co and regardless of whether you get yours through Kickstarter or on the website as a pre-order, you’ll be blown away by the quality of this writing instrument.

The Machine Era Co Twist Field Pen has a great price tag of just $65 which is impressive when you consider some of the eye-catching materials and design features of this pen which include a Tactile Grip Detail, Balanced Centre of Mass, Anodized Aluminium Twist Button and the fact they have been fully machined from solid stock. A great pen for a great price.
