When the winter weather really draws in, you’ll want a hard-wearing jacket that can bat it away with aplomb and you’ll not find many candidates better for the job than the fantastic looking &SONS Boardwalk Peacoat Jacket. Almost obscenely stylish, this first rate jacket from one of our favourite menswear brands here at Coolector HQ is going to score style points aplenty in 2021 and beyond because, trust us, this jacket is going to be a mainstay of your wardrobe rotation for many years to come.

The &SONS Boardwalk Peacoat Jacket has a price tag of £325 and is made from exemplary materials from top to bottom to deliver the ultimate in style and comfort. If you like your outerwear to be a real head-turner, you’ll be in your element with the Boardwalk Peacoat from &SONS and for those with an interest in the backstory of clothing, this comes from pijjekker – in which ‘pij’ refers to the type of cloth used, a coarse kind of twilled blue cloth, and ‘jekker’ describes a man’s short, heavy, coat – which is the original name of what is now known across the world as the Peacoat. And they don’t come any classier than this one.

Military Origins

Famed for its origins in the military, the Peacoat’s history begins as early as the 1720s and can be witnessed in nearly every surplus uniform in various guises. This Boardwalk Peacoat is a labour of love for &SONS founder, Phil James and, as such, from the heavy-weight, 22oz Melton wool that’s been woven exclusively for &SONS to the oversized buttons, forged from recycled metal, it’s clear that every detail has been thoughtfully considered and consciously sourced – without any compromise.

To withstand the elements and come up with a coat that was both wearable and workable, &SONS took it upon themselves to invest in a luxury textile for the lining called Modal. This impressive fabric is made from beech tree pulp which contains 50% more absorbent microfibres than cotton and is more sustainable and eco-friendly – so the Boardwalk Peacoat is a jacket you can feel good about wearing in more ways than one. The wool is recycled from old woollen garments that are repurposed and spun into new yarn as well.

One of the stand out features of the &SONS Boardwalk Peacoat is the Storm Collar which sees the menswear brand increase the height of the collar to protect the wearer from the elements whatever Mother Nature can throw at you. They’ve also introduced a traditional fastening that pulls the collar together around the neck for further insulation from any inclement weather conditions. The fastening can be removed or repositioned around the back when not in use and due to the heavy-weight 22oz Melton wool, the collar sits proud when worn up and creates a striking silhouette for the wearer.

Packed Full of Features

Everywhere you look with the Boardwalk Peacoat from &SONS you’ll find a feature that really does help to set it apart from the competition. The mid-level pockets are one such feature and these are positioned at the perfect height for a relaxed stance. The pockets are crafted from a robust chord that is soft to touch and a superior fabric to the usual cotton lining.

Another area in which this peacoat excels is with the hand-stitched, recycled metal buttons which are pressed from discarded metal on the factory floor that is melted down and reused to avoid going into landfill. The factory also holds a GRS Certificate (Global Recycled Standard) and the oversized diameters make fastening easier and feature a unique ampersand and stars design. At £325, the Boardwalk Peacoat from &SONS is an investment but one definitely worth making.
