Art V Cancer

Cancer is obviously a disease that has the propensity to touch anyone’s life at one point or another and the sooner we can eradicate it the better. With that in mind, we’re only too happy to champion the cause of movements like Art V Cancer which aim to generate funds to help tackle the scourge of cancer and, as a happy by-product, produce some mightily spiffing artwork.

Art V Cancer is the work of a talented pair by the name of Chris Thornley (AKA Raid 71 – an alum of the pages of The Coolector) and Julia Hall who create this project after Thornley was diagnosed with an incurable form of non hodgkins lymphoma at the age of just 37. The project first began in 2011 and has raised nearly £15,000 for a myriad of cancer charities during this time and this is due to the excellence of the artwork which has been curated by Thornley and Hall which can be purchased via the project’s website with the proceeds going to specified cancer charities.

There are some truly fantastic pieces available on the Art V Cancer website with the Calvin & Hobbes / Breaking Bad mash-ups being a particular favourite of ours here at Coolector HQ. Check out a few more of our favourites below:

If you’ve been affected by cancer or merely want to show your support to an incredibly worthwhile campaign, there are still an abundance of paintings available for purchase on the Art V Cancer website starting at around the $30 mark. Combining tackling cancer with providing some superbly creative pieces of artwork is an admirable endeavour indeed and we’re massive fans of this project here at The Coolector.
