1973 911 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 Touring

For those with a love of racing, there are certain vehicles that you’re sure to want to add to your collection of vehicles and, truth be told, this 1973 911 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 Touring from Auxietre & Schmidt is one of the finest examples you’re likely to encounter. Billed as one of the most desirable and most iconic Porsches ever produced, the 1973 911 Carrera RS was crafted to allow Porsche to carry on its success in motorsport following the retirement of the 917.

The objective was to prepare an all-out campaign in the new European Grand Touring Championship Group 5 with a 911-based model called the RSR. Using the 911 S as a starting point, the Carrera RS had numerous alterations in an attempt to reduce weight and add power. Weighing just 2,370 pounds, the Carrera RS boasted a top speed of 150 mph and a 0–60 mph time of just 5.5 seconds.

Old School Cool

This offering from Auxietre & Schmidt is in exemplary condition and it is a matching numbers example with its original factory specifications. It is outstandingly documented from new and comes with a well-equipped German delivery with original service book. This Porsche is a desirable and sought-after first series example of which just 500 units were made. This actual car was built new for the German market and tagged with shipping code « 5 », which meant un-waxed and collected directly from the factory.

The original specifications of this 1973 911 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 Touring from Auxietre & Schmidt were special order colour Grand Prix White with red script and Sports seats on both the left and right. Extra factory options included headrests for both seats, retractable shoulder belts for both conductor and passenger, retractable left antenna with loudspeaker and, last but not least, the eye-catching electric sliding sunroof – which is a rather unusual feature for the German market. The car still remains, to this day, unchanged from all its original factory specifications.

This breathtaking Porsche has changed ownership a few times but has always been driven sparingly and remains in exemplary condition. In 2011, it came into the possession of a German enthusiast who has cared for it with no expenses spared. The car was meticulously serviced and enhanced on a yearly basis at either the Porsche dealership in Munich or the factory in Stuttgart. Some of the enhancements included a brake system overhaul in 2011 as well as a transmission rebuild in 2014 and totalled €55k of expenses.

Rare Opportunity

This lot from Auxietre & Schmidt represents the exceptionally rare chance to get your hands on an unquestionable, highly original and fully matching numbers Carrera RS 2.7 with continuous history from new, supplied with an unparalleled history file and ready for your instant enjoyment and to become the crowning jewel of any classic car collection.
