Whilst lime green probably isn’t a colourway that is going to appeal to all classic car enthusiasts, it’s hard not to fall for this 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL ‘Batmobile’ from RM Sotheby’s but the guide price of around $375k might just be what kills off your interest – unless you’ve got incredibly deep pockets of course. This stunning steed is a superbly restored and well-documented homologation special from BMW and, it’s safe to say, it will definitely be the most eye-catching ride in any collector’s line up of vehicles.

The 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL ‘Batmobile’ is the 49th of just 57 second-series “Batmobile” examples produced so there certainly many others of these knocking around on the open roads out there and doubtful any in such a good condition as this one. It has been finished in its factory-correct Taiga Metallic (072) over black colour combination and the visual impact of this impressive machine is second to none and will turn heads aplenty out there.

VISUALLY VIBRANT MACHINE

This glorious looking machine has already generated a lot of interest and it forms part of RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island auction. It is powered by its numbers-matching 3.2-litre, straight six-cylinder engine and it comes desirably equipped with Alpina wheels, aluminium body panels, Scheel sport seats, power steering, and electric rear windows – so the performance it offers is matched only by its unparalleled visual vibrancy.

It is one of just four examples reportedly painted in this bold colour and it was delivered new to Höss BMW in Memmingen, Bavaria on 5 June 1975.

As presented today this extremely rate, very late second-series “Batmobile” manages to keep many interesting features and options throughout and this includes the Scheel sport seats, power steering, electric rear windows, homologation aero kit, aluminium doors and hood, and steel trunk. The breathtaking BMW also retains its numbers-matching 3.2-litre engine, making this CSL quite remarkable—notwithstanding its globetrotting provenance and striking colourway to boot.
