5 of the Best Drinks for Getting in the Christmas Spirit

If, like us here at Coolector HQ, you enjoy a tipple or two on Christmas Day, and want to add a few new options to your drinks cart this festive period, we’ve got your back. Check out our pick of 5 of the best spirits to enjoy this Winter below:

Brewdog Rogue Wave Vodka – £22

If vodka is your tipple of choice, this Rogue Wave Vodka from Brewdog (£22) will tick all of the right boxes this Christmas. It is a single malt vodka which has been made as a tribute to the cousin of James Watt, one of BrewDog’s Founders’, One-Armed Alex, a man you’ll never forget.

Brewdog Rogue Wave Vodka is distilled over 7 days as vapour passes through the World’s first triple-bubble copper pot still, before it hits the 19-metre rectification column – the higher it goes the purer it gets. Extreme copper contact gives uncompromising quality, filtering just once, so the spirit keeps its soul. Crisp, clean, with subtle notes of icing sugar and vanilla. Rogue Wave is a vodka you’ll never forget. (£22)

Dos Hombres Espadin Mezcal – $62

From Breaking Bad stars, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, this Dos Hombres Espadin Mezcal ($62) will spice things up this Christmas. It is a unique blend of the finest Espadin agave, which has been hand-picked from the hillsides of a small village in Oaxaca. Dos Hombres delivers an excellent fragrance and a rich taste that enlivens the palate, and ensures the distinctive smoothness of the Dos Hombres brand.

Best served neat in a snifter or extended glass to allow the mezcal to “awake,” and fully appreciate the flavours and scents of a completely natural experience. Dos Hombres Espadin Mezcal is an open invitation to uncover and delight with the richness arising from the legendary craftsmanship of the best Mezcal Masters in Oaxaca. ($62)

Shackleton Blended Malt Whisky – £35

Whisky is the perfect winter warmer and they don’t come much better than this Shackleton Blended Malt Whisky (£35). A really interesting backstory is something that definitely helps to set this whisky apart from the competition. Shackleton Blended Malt Scotch is based on the spirit supplied to the 1907 British Antarctic Expedition led by Shackleton himself and it is an expertly crafted blend using a selection of the finest Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. (£35)

Cambridge Distillery Anty Gin – £220

If you want to push the boat out a little with your choice of spirits this Christmas, you’ll find few better than this Anty Gin from Cambridge Distillery (£220). It is officially billed as the world’s most innovative spirit and it is the result of a collaboration with the visionary thinkers of the Nordic Food Lab. It is the very first gin in the world to be made from insects. Each bottle of Anty Gin contains the essence of approximately 62 red wood ants, along with hand-foraged botanicals including juniper, wild wood avens and nettle that complement the sharp citrus notes created by distilling the ants.

Each bottle of Anty Gin from Cambridge Distillery is labelled by hand on the Distillery’s 1924 typewriter, demonstrating the attention to detail which led this gin to be named World’s Most Innovative Alcohol in the 2015 World Beverage Innovation Awards. A 5cl dropper bottle of pure ant distillate is also provided for you to experience the unique flavour of the Formica rufa in isolation – or to intensify the citrus notes in an Anty Gin & Tonic. (£220)
