66° North x HEIMPLANET Inflatable Tent

When it comes to adventure ready, inflatable tents, the guys at HEIMPLANET are, inevitably, a go-to for most wilderness lovers and when they joined forces with 66º North on a collaboration project with HEIMPLANET and Iceland based photographer, Benjamin Hardman, the end results were always going to be impressive. The 66º North x HEIMPLANET Tent takes less than a minute to pitch. Round ground area offers enough space for three persons to sleep, plus baggage, or up to five persons to sit all together. The tent is incredibly robust and due to the fact it is crafted from high-quality materials it is weatherproof and durable to boot.

Priced at $1,199, the 66º North x HEIMPLANET Inflatable Tent is a sizeable investment but if you’re regularly exploring the great outdoors and love nights under the stars, it’s definitely one worth making. It was very natural to collaborate when 66°North and HEIMPLANET were brought together by a mutual friend, the photographer Benjamin Hardman. Benjamin has been using the protective and versatile 66°North garments in uncompromising and often harsh Icelandic weather for years and slept countless nights during Icelandic summer in the inflatable tents from the German camping gear innovator, HEIMPLANET. This collaboration between the two brands has been a long time coming.

ADVENTURE READY CAMPING GEAR

Designed to be something special that could extend the exploration season for Benjamin, a tent designed for all seasons of the year, this ace collab between 66º North x HEIMPLANET is the sort of gear that takes no prisoners and helps to keep even the harshest elements at bay throughout the year. Benjamin Hardman had a dream to build an Icelandic weatherproof edition of HEIMPLANET’s Cave Tent. In other countries it can take a whole year to experience all four seasons, but in Iceland, you can see them all within one day. With a four-season Cave, fit out with a fully weatherproof construction, larger floor-plan for his camera gear and space for a team of two or three people, there is potential to elevate the highland camping experience even more. Basically from a home to portable basecamp.

The 66º North x HEIMPLANET Inflatable Tent ($1,199) is a state-of-the-art offering that expertly combines 66°North’s design skills with HEIMPLANET’s technology, and takes only a single hand pump to pitch in less than 60 seconds. Featuring (XYZ) specialised features, the Cave XL has been purpose built for Icelandic adventures so wherever you choose to pitch it, it’s not going to let you down. Having the fly sheet extend all the way down to the ground is a much needed addition for Hardman, giving an extra layer of weather proofing during those classic Icelandic storms where rain and snow somehow manage to go upwards.

It boasts a generous 5m2 of ground space which allows plenty of room to sleep a crew of 2-3 people and all of their gear, while packing down to the size of a 30L dry bag which is pretty impressive stuff in our opinion here at The Coolector. It is the ideal basecamp for car based adventures or expeditions where hauling your gear in a trailer or sled is an option. It has an array of storage options in the walls of the inner tent to keep your gear organised and whilst the air structure is linked, there are several individual chambers that can be closed off in the rare event of a breakdown in the system. This will provide emergency support and keep the structure standing while repairs are made. One for the real wilderness campers out there.
