Bangalore Watch Company

One of the best things about the watchmaking industry in our opinion here at The Coolector is just how diverse it is and the fact there are new excellent brands regularly emerging onto our radar. In our years of covering watches on the pages of The Coolector, we’ve featured a lot of different timepieces but the Bangalore Watch Company™ is the first fine watch brand from India we’ve encountered and, it’s fair to say, it was worth the wait.

The Bangalore Watch Company™ is billed as the world’s first Indian origin watch microbrand and their already impressive line up of timepieces are going to appeal to watch aficionados the world over, particularly those with a penchant for refined, understated accessories. These first rate watches are born from a desire to reacquaint gentlemen with impeccable watches of Indian origin. The brand is built upon a essential ethos that today’s contemporary man isn’t compelled by the perceived generational need to keep up only by buying that latest new phone or a smartwatch. And that’s something we can get behind here at Coolector HQ.

Exceptional Quality, Limited Numbers

Producing watches in small batches in order to ensure quality is something that helps to set the Bangalore Watch Company™ apart from many watch brands in the market. The Bangalore Watch Company™ have sourced the best components they could find for their watches. And most importantly, the founders have committed to accessible, direct and honest customer service.

The Bangalore Watch Company™ brand was founded by husband and wife team Nirupesh Joshi and Mercy Amalraj who have called Bangalore their home for over fifteen years. With a passion for the world of fine watchmaking gained from time spent in parts of Asia, they returned home leaving behind our their tech careers in Hong Kong to embark on a new project – namely, this Indian origin fine watch brand which they began early 2017 – and, we’re pleased to report, they very much look like making waves in the highly competitive industry.

The debut offering from the Bangalore Watch Company™ is the Renaissance Automatic Watch which is shipping this month and is a lesson an example in refinement and elegant watchmaking. This exemplary offering is inspired by classic dress watches from a time when a watch was more than just a means of telling the time. This new collection is limited to just 500 pieces in total and 80 pieces per example. Such is the quality, we certainly don’t expect these to be available for long as eager watch lovers will be snapping them up straight away.

Sophisticated Design and Performance

With the Renaissance Automatic Watch we are getting a real glimpse of the sort of quality that Bangalore Watch Company™ are going to be synonymous with going forward. This fantastically dapper timepiece boasts a 40mm surgical grade stainless steel case which has been constructed for a water resistant rating of 10 Atmospheres or 330 feet. In addition, these watches have Argentum, Grand Ivory, and Deep Anthracite dials which are all finished off with a circular brushing pattern and applied indices for hour markers, applied minute markers, and an aesthetically appealing date window at 3H.

As with all watches, the choice of movement is an important one and the Bangalore Watch Company™ don’t disappoint with their Renaissance Automatic series of watches. They’ve chosen Japan’s Miyota 9015 movement for their debut collection as it has an unbeatable reputation with watch microbrands worldwide and boasts 24 jewels, a 42 hours power reserve and it vibrates at 28,800 beats per hour resulting in a smooth sweep of the seconds hand. Whilst they might not have been on our radar before, you can rest assured that Bangalore Watch Company™ well and truly are now.
