The Coolector’s Top 5 Upcoming Films in 2014

2014 looks set to be a pretty bumper year for movie aficionados with some tip top looking films hitting the silver screen over the next 12 months and we here at Coolector HQ have got our eyes on some already. We’re going to take a look at five of our most anticipated films of the next twelve months below. Let’s get started:

Fury:

Written and directed by the impressive David Ayer, he who penned Training Day, Fury looks set to give us our fill of WWII insight in 2014 and follows a bunch of brave chaps during the allied invasion of Germany. Starring Brad Pitt, Shia Labeouf and long time Ayer collaborator, Michael Pena. One we’re definitely excited about here at Coolector HQ.

The Grand Budapest Hotel:

We write about Wes Anderson an awful lot here at The Coolector which is testament to our admiration of the chap and he looks as though he will be following his tried and tested quirkiness formula for his next offering, the fantastic looking, The Grand Budapest Hotel. Starring Ralph Fiennes and regular Anderson cohorts including Jason Swartzman, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson, we’ll definitely be first in line when it hits our cinemas in March.

Her:

We’ve been mightily impressed with Joaquin Phoenix’s performances of late including in the excellent The Master, he looks set to flex his acting muscles once again in the bonkers sounding but brilliant looking, Her, from indie director Spike Jonze. In this wonderfully madcap movie, Phoenix falls in love with a technologically advanced, sentient computer after a series of failed real life relationships. One to put the cat amongst the Oscar pigeons in 2014, perhaps.

Gone Girl:

If there is a director who can rival Wes Anderson for our affections here at Coolector HQ then it is surely that of Fight Club helmer, David Fincher. His next movie is an adaptation of the best selling Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and Tyler Perry and follows the story of a women who disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary and, if the shot above is anything to go by, it looks to be filmed in the same darkly excellent way as Fight Club.

Interstellar:

We wrote about the next offering from Inception scribe and director, Christopher Nolan, a few weeks back and it remains one of our most hotly anticipated movies of the next 12 months after the teaser trailer which gave very little away except the fact it will be likely awesome. It stars Matthew McConaughey, Michael Caine and Jessica Chastain and whilst very little is known about it so far, it’s going to be about space travel and worm-holes i.e. awesome.
