Cuphead

I think we’re going through a phase here at Coolector HQ given the fact that we seem to have an insatiable urge to write about games that look as though they were made in the 90s and we’ve fallen foul of this urge once again now that an incredible looking platform game by the name of Cuphead from Studio MDHR has come into our purview.

As you can see from the, upsettingly brief, video above, Cuphead looks like an old school cartoon from the era of silent movies and we found it mighty hard not to be entirely bewitched by the strangely impressive visuals given that it’s a next generation game with a much older mindset.

Cuphead is your standard “Run & Gun” platformer that has two chief protagonists – namely, Cuphead and Mugman – and it can be either a single player or cooperative platformer depending on, errmm, whether you’ve got friends or not, I guess. The game is very focused on another classic element of old school video games that isn’t so important nowadays – the end of level boss – and from the short clip above, it looks as though creativity positively abounds in this retro looking game.

This first class looking platformer may not have the razzle dazzle of your GTA: 5’s and your Call of Duty’s but it has definitely got plenty of other features going for it that those types of games cannot claim to and we here at Coolector HQ can’t wait for it to hit the shelves in 2015.
