DISCOMMON is one of our favourite industrial designers here at Coolector HQ and we’re always waiting with bated breath for new product launches and collaborations from them. Well, they’ve not disappointed with their latest offering – this stunning DISCOMMON x Coffee Drunk La Marzocco Coffee Machine which is, quite frankly, a thing of beauty.

If you’re fan of impeccably made coffee and sleek, contemporary industrial design, this DISCOMMON x Coffee Drunk La Marzocco Coffee Machine is definitely going to be right up your street. This bespoke coffee maker has been crafted for a new third-wave coffee shop located in Long Beach, California, and it really is a sight to behold.

Spectacular Design

This eye-catching collaboration is the brainchild of DISCOMMON and custom La Marzocco specialists, Pantechnicon, and is located in California caffeine slingers, Coffee Drunk. The original machine is a Strada AV, 2 group manufactured by La Marzocco and the whole project took some six months to custom design and produce.

The DISCOMMON x Coffee Drunk La Marzocco Coffee Machine really is the is the star attraction of the coffee shop and they wanted it to catch the light with multi-faceted paneling so it looks different from every angle you see it from. It is undoubtedly one of the sleekest and effortlessly cool pieces of design we’ve seen so far in 2021 but, to be honest, we’d expect nothing less from DISCOMMON here at Coolector HQ.

The challenge from a design point of for this DISCOMMON x Coffee Drunk collab was the fact that they had to not only make the paneling look seamless, but they also had to also make sure it could be taken apart for regular service and use in a busy coffee shop in California. As you can see, it’s mission accomplished on both fronts.

Top Quality Materials Throughout

DISCOMMON used machined aerospace-grade aluminium hard-anodized in satin black for an elegant and stylish finish which was capable of delivering a dramatic contrast to the warm walnut accents deployed on the machine. The two materials fuse the essences of hi-tech and handmade for a completely custom aesthetic which is reflective of CoffeeDrunk’s ideals.

As big fans of keeping caffeinated here at Coolector HQ, this DISCOMMON x Coffee Drunk collaboration was always going to be right up our street but even if you’re not a coffee fan, it’s hard not to be impressed with the breathtaking finish and impeccable design principles which have gone into the crafting of this glorious looking contraption.
