Good Movies As Old Books

There is something about the aesthetic of vintage books which really resonates with our sensibilities and we love it when illustrators use it as a catalyst for their designs. We’ve seen few better examples of this of late than this brilliant Good Movies As Old Books from illustrator, Matt Stevens, which is funding over on Kickstarter now and it’s, not surprisingly, doing mighty well.

The Good Movies As Old Books on Kickstarter gives you the opportunity to choose from a vast array of iconic movies reimagined as old book covers as art prints and there is also the chance to include a hardback book including all of the talented illustrator’s vintage inspired designs. Matt Stevens creates brand identity and illustration for brands and publications both big and small and he’s really showcased his creative talents with this movie / book combo which we’re loving here at Coolector HQ.

Old School Cool

This art book and corresponding set of prints of 100 of Matt Stevens’ favourite films reimagined as vintage book covers is a great choice of artwork and coffee table book for those with a love of contemporary movie classics. Some of the movies that have come under this talented illustrator’s purview include Fight Club, No Country for Old Men, The Matrix, Hell or High Water and Interstellar.

The Good Movies As Old Books series of designs from Matt Stevens on Kickstarter combines Stevens’ love of film and old book art and the book will be a high end piece, which will be produced by one of the most reputable book printers in the United States. The prints will be high quality giclee prints, on archival paper and will add a real touch of class to any home office or wall space. At the end of the Kickstarter campaign, you can look at all 100 finished covers along with the backer survey and you will choose the print(s) you want (number of prints based on your reward level).

The illustrator already has over 60 vintage designs completed by the date of this project launch. You can view all the current entries here. He will spend the 30 days of the Kickstarter campaign to continue to produce new illustrations to reach a grand total of 100 which will form the coffee table book and array of prints to choose from. Stevens will share some of his thoughts and process along the way via project updates so you can keep up to date with all the goings-on.

Plenty of Different Rewards

With this Kickstarter campaign, which is great for both movie and book lovers, you can really tailor your reward level depending on what you’re looking to get out of it. You can just pledge to receive the coffee table book with all the artwork at the end of the campaign of pledge to receive a number of different art prints.

With so many of our favourite movies featuring in this awesome campaign, we’ll definitely be looking to get our hands on a few of these prints here at Coolector HQ and have got our beady eye on the Fight Club, Bottle Rocket and Wolf of Wall Street Prints in particular. Head on over to Kickstarter now to throw your support behind this campaign chock full of vintage vibes.
