Plover House

California is one of the coolest places to live in our opinion here at The Coolector and if you’re after a laid back, Californian vibe, Plover House from Fuse Architects is for you. The studio renovated a 60s pyramidal home by adding cedar cladding, expanding the windows and brightening the interior design aesthetic.

The weekend home of Plover House can be found in Pajaro Dunes, a resort community that lies just south of Santa Cruz in California. The community sits along the shoreline of Monterey Bay and this house possesses some truly mesmeric views that we’re loving here at The Coolector.

The three-bedroom property was commissioned by a Silicon Valley couple and their three children and it really has been bought back to life by some clever design tweaks from Fuse Architects. The build entailed the remodel of a beachfront home dating to 1968 and designed by architect George Cody and it served as the perfect canvas for creating a more contemporary property.

Totalling some 1,500 square feet (139 square metres) of living space, Plover House came with an irregular, pyramid-like roof and cedar-shingle cladding, both inside and out but Fuse Architects set about enhancing the aesthetic considerably. The interior was dark, outdated and closed off to the beach but this was soon remedied to give way to the stunning holiday home you see before you.
