San Marino Residence

Miami is unquestionably one of the coolest waterfront cities in the world and has some amazing architecture to be enjoyed from the art deco to much more contemporary designs such as this superb looking San Marino Residence from Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architects. This waterfront property has one particularly striking feature in the shape of the stunning cantilevered pool that runs alongside the residence and this adds a whole new level of luxury to proceedings.

The San Marino Residence from Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architects is situated in the Biscayne Bay area of Miami and has been designed on behalf of a Californian winery owner. During the design brief they requested a lush tropical environment to enhance their indoor/outdoor living area that is positioned right on the water. It has been designed to work on the narrow, wedge-shaped footprint with the design spreading and opening up the closer you get to the waterfront.

Wonderful Waterfront Residence

Boasting three linear elements, namely a two-story volume that houses the main living spaces, a one-story wing that serves as a guest space and office, and the elevated lap pool that reaches out into the backyard, the San Marino Residence really is a sight to behold. As mentioned, it is the unusual and eye-catching swimming pool that is the star attraction of this Miami residence and it cantilevers a dramatic 18 feet and it is stretched out above the home’s entry and main walkway.

The Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architects designed San Marino Residence has an extensive expanse of windows dotted around the property which allows daylight to spill onto the staircase and does a superb job of joining the sleeping level to the living level below. This stunning piece of design has a highly contemporary finish and understated interior that is ideally suited to the lifestyle of the winery owning residents.

With the main element of the house, where you’ll find the living and sleeping areas, the architects have managed to keep it cool with floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open up to let the ocean breezes pass through. There is a large roof which overhangs and helps to keep direct sunlight to a minimum so it doesn’t get too hot during the balmy summer months. This is all cleverly designed so as to make the most of the weather conditions all year round in Miami.

Miami State of Mind

There is something deeply enticing about Miami living especially in a property as eye-catching and impeccably designed as the San Marino Residence from Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Architects. This exceptionally stylish and modern property is luxurious in the extreme and excels both internally and externally and showcases the innovative design talents of the architects responsible for it.

A swimming pool like no other that runs the length of the property and cantilevers out is the stand out feature of course but it is expertly complimented with neat little design touches throughout the property. We’re loving the look and feel of the San Marino Residence here at The Coolector and can’t wait to see what the talented architects come up with over the next 12 months and beyond.
