Shinola Canfield Cannonball Watch

Detroit’s finest (watchmakers), Shinola, are regular features on the pages of The Coolector but they’ve haven’t graced us in a while truth be told but that’s just changed since we stumbled across one of their latest timepiece offerings that goes by the name of the Shinola Canfield Cannonball Watch.

This limited edition offering from Shinola is named after the ‘The Wabash Cannonball’, a famed American Folk song about a fictional train from the late 19th century. The watch is a celebration of the huge role that the early railroads played in shaping and changing the face of American music forever and, we have to say, the Canfield Cannonball is one attractive watch indeed.

Music on the Move

Shinola are well-known for creating timepieces which are a celebration of some achievement or other – such as their Wright Brothers watch – and the Canfield Cannonball is no exception. This glorious looking construct aims to highlight the important role that early railroads in America played in helping people move much more freely across the country and, inevitably, music followed and this gave birth to a much more diverse musical nation as a result.

The Shinola Canfield Cannonball Watch essentially honours the evolution of music in the United States, which was all thanks to the railroad. The quality of the watch is, as we’ve come to expect from Shinola, top notch and the understated aesthetics definitely appeal to our own horology expectations here at Coolector HQ.

Limited to just 1000 pieces, the Canfield Cannonball isn’t likely to stick around for long, particularly when you consider its impressive perks which include the fact it comes a 45-RPM vinyl record, in a bourbon leather sleeve crafted from Shinola’s signature leather and featuring a a cover of the “Wabash Cannonball” by Lukas Nelson, who is the son of iconic country and Western singer, Willie Nelson.

A Watch Well Made

We’re fans of Shinola here at Coolector HQ, not just their watches but all their accessories, and this is largely because they go about making their wares in the right way and the Canfield Cannonball Watch is no exception. This exemplary timepiece boasts some mighty striking specifications which include an understated and elegant, open dial viewing area, diamond-cut design hands, and a signature coin edge detail which is evident with all of Shinola’s Canfield designs.

In addition to this, the Cannonball Watch has a premium, American made, blue, pebbled leather strap, a stainless steel casing, an Argonite 1069 movement and each one comes in its own cool wooden presentation case that really adds that extra touch of style to proceedings. Another great limited edition watch from Shinola and one made all the better by the fact it highlights the railroads role in creating the diverse music scene in America what it is today.
