Mondaine Helvetica Watch

We love watches here at Coolector HQ. We also love typography. Imagine our delight then when we came across a timepiece that marries these two loves of ours superbly well and gives us a wristwatch that sates our appetite for wonderfully crafted timepieces whilst simultaneously satisfying our penchant for fonts and typography. The timepiece in question is the Mondaine Helvetica Watch and, safe to say, it’s left us really rather impressed.

Mondaine are a well-known Swiss watchmaker who have a mightily impressive back-catalogue of entry level watches under their belt but this new offering makes the famous Swiss typeface a Swiss timepiece and we very much like what we see of this minimalist offering. Boasting plenty of features that will keep both horology fans and typography types appeased, the Mondaine Helvetica Watch was certainly no whim from the Swiss watchmakers as it apparently spent four years in the discussion phase before the design could be agreed upon and we’re sure you’ll join us at The Coolector in agreeing they’ve done a great job.

Available, as you would expect from a typography inspired timepiece, in Light, Regular and Bold iterations, the Mondaine Helvetica Watch is a triumph for those who like their timepieces understated and with features such as a RONDA movement, sapphire crystal glass casing and a 30m water resistance, it is a most capable timepiece indeed. If you’re equally as obsessed with watches and have an interest in the formation of fonts then this brilliant looking and effortlessly cool offering from Mondaine will unquestionably tick all of the right boxes. We’re forever on the hunt for new wristwatches to impart upon ourselves at The Coolector and this cracking piece of design, with its nod to typography, is just the sort of thing we typically favour.
