The Ferrari Enzo is already an undeniable legend in modern hypercar history. But among the 400 examples produced between 2002 and 2004, chassis 136069 stands completely in a league of its own.

Offered through RM Sotheby’s with Price on Application (£POA), this particular 2004 Ferrari Enzo is the only example ever delivered new from Maranello finished in factory-applied Matte Nero Opaco (Matte Black).

Royal Provenance & Unprecedented Specification

During the early 2000s, Maranello’s colour palette remained overwhelmingly traditional. Rosso Corsa dominated production, followed by Giallo Modena and standard gloss Nero.

Matte finishes had yet to enter the automotive mainstream, and convincing Ferrari to paint its flagship hypercar in a non-standard matte hue required extraordinary client clout.

That influence belonged to the Royal Family of Brunei—a family famed for commissioning bespoke one-off supercars from Europe’s finest marques.

Construction began in June 2004, and by October, Maranello rolled out its first-ever matte black hypercar. Specified in a menacing triple-black layout, the Nero Opaco bodywork was paired with a Nero leather cabin, matching carpets, contrasting Rosso instrument dials, and oversized racing seats.

Delivered to the family’s London residence, the car made fleeting, legendary appearances through Mayfair and Knightsbridge before being stored in the Asia-Pacific region.

Factory Refinement by Carrozzeria Zanasi

In 2022, the Enzo returned to Europe for a comprehensive cosmetic restoration by Carrozzeria Zanasi—the official paint facility entrusted with Ferrari’s Tailor-Made, Icona, and hypercar projects.

With invoices exceeding €110,000, Zanasi painstakingly refinished the exterior in its original Nero Opaco shade while replacing aged components, headlights, glass, and sticky cabin switches.

Fully backed by Ferrari Classiche Red Book certification, the car retains its original matching-numbers chassis, V12 engine, gearbox, and carbon composite bodywork.

Following its arrival in Canada, official maintenance was conducted by Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo in August 2024 at 5,742 km—receiving a fresh clutch, new fuel pumps, and a new valve cover gasket.

A Crown Jewel for Serious Collectors
