Live By Night

When it comes to the best movie directors of the last decade, Ben Affleck probably isn’t a name that immediately springs to mind but, in our opinion here at Coolector HQ, this does him a disservice considering he was the man behind the camera on some of our favourite films of this time including Gone Baby Gone, Argo and The Town.

His latest movie where he sits both behind and in front of the camera goes by the name of Live By Night and it unfolds in Prohibition Era America. This supremely stylish looking film will immediately appeal to Boardwalk Empire fans and it looks very much as though Affleck is flexing his directorial muscles to maximum effect if the trailer above is anything to go by.

Boasting the sort of cool aesthetic that we’ve come to expect from an Affleck movie, Live By Night is adapted from Dennis Lehane’s 2012 novel of the same name and follows the story of Affleck’s character, the son of a Boston police chief, who goes on to become the head of the Tampa underworld, dealing in illicit booze. The trailer does a great job of setting the scene for the movie and we can’t wait for its January release here at The Coolector.
